A message from our Leadership

In 2007, YOU touched over 6,000 lives through your support of Jewish Family Service.

This number includes the high school students who learned to recognize healthy relationships. But it doesn’t count the parents, siblings and friends with whom they shared their new knowledge. This number includes the people we empowered to overcome life’s many obstacles such as illness, divorce, or loss of a spouse.  But it doesn’t count the families and friends who delighted in seeing their loved ones  strengthened by JFS counseling and support. This number includes senior adults who continued to be independent at home because of the experienced care management they received from Jewish Family Service.  But it doesn’t count the adult children and grandchildren who felt at ease knowing Mom and Dad were being watched with a skillful eye.

And the number 6,000 doesn’t include so many other caring people connected to Jewish Family Service:  our 43 compassionate staff members and contract workers, over 1,400 community attendees at Homeland in Cincinnati, 43 community partners, 601 generous donors, and 22 dedicated Board members.

We are proud knowing that for each life we touch at Jewish Family Service, there are many, many, many more lives strengthened in our
community. We are reminded of the Talmudic saying, "and whoever saves a life, it is considered as if he saved an entire world."

Some say this is the Power of One. We say it is the power of YOU.

Thank YOU for being a partner with JFS. Let’s all together be the change we want to see in the world.

How One Person can make a Difference:

"I have been working in social services for almost 20 years, and so I’ve experienced many highlights along the road. But in 2007, I had an experience unlike any other.

I took the Food Stamp Challenge, eating only $23.00 worth of food for a week, which is the national average amount that a single food stamp recipient is awarded. Yes, I did it alone. But my story was shared across the nation through my blog and interviews with the Cincinnati Enquirer and WLW700 radio. I did this as part of an advocacy and awareness effort to prove that WE can really make a difference and that WE can never rest from our efforts to help others in our community."
